Letter #3 Hello

Hola Familia? Como estan?
Thanks for all the dear eldres this week. i love em. and thanks for that package. i really appreciated all the goodies, thank you otes and clothes. Jason and Tiffany, i hope you are still enjoying the HOT weather!! 104, that's smokin!!! And i u all are doing well. Glad to hear San Fran was soo much fun. It seemed like you guys really enjoyed it. i bet alcatraz will be awesome. i have always wanted to go there. How's the family reunion and Lake Tahoe? I bet you are having a blast with everyone. Tell everyone hi for me. So some exciting news for you and grandma, elder kofford and i took some pictures by the map. They are pretty good. I'll send my sdcard home with my extra pair of spanish scriptures and then just send it back once you upload my pics. But I can't believe Elder Kofford leaves on Tuesday...it's crazy!! BUt he is gonna be a great missionary and he is excited to leave and get to Lisbon.
So the MTC is great. The spirit is awesome and i am learning so much everyday. i felt like my spanish was coming slower this week for most of the days, but there were a few days where i was getting it. Line upon line precept upon precept I'll learn the language. i know that it will come over time, i just gotta keep working hard at it. The mission presidents week was pretty cool. I didn't see many people because they blocked off where they were. But i did walk right past Russell M. Nelson which was awesome!!! Then on friday we had a great devotional by Dallin H. Oaks. He talked about the 3 ways that our church is the true church. He said they were that we have the fullness of His doctrine, we have the power of the priesthood, and we have a unique testimony of Jesus Christ. It was very doctrinal and straight forward, but it was such a powerful talk. It was awesome to sit at the foot of an apostle and learn for him. There were 8 apostles at the devotional in all. Jeffrey R. Holland, Richard G. Scott, Dallin H. Oaks, Russell M. Nelson, D. Todd Christopherson, Quetin L. Cook, Neil L. Anderson, and David A. Bednar. It was sweet. And then last night for our tuesday devotional, Sister Elaine S. Dalton, the general young women president, spoke to us. She talked about confidence and it was sweet. She said that in latin, confidence is based off of two latin roots, con and fadeo (?). Con means with and fideo means faith. She made a comparison to running and running hills. She said, "You never make the decision to quit or turn back when you are in the middle of the hill." She then went on to talk about a marathon runner from tanzania. We watched a movie about him and about how he persevered through injuries to finish the marathon. He said my country didn't send me 5000 miles to start the race, they sent me 5000 miles to finish the race. It was powerful. I related that to us. Something i wrote down was, A voice calls from within, GO ON!!!! God sent us here, not to start the race, but to finish the race. We must always press forward with confidence (with faith). I really liked her talk.
Mine and Elder Cole's roommates left this morning for Peru. They are gonna be great missionaries and it was sad to see them leave. They were great example to me. BUt things continue to go well and i continue to grow. Somedays are harder than others but i have learned from everyone of them. Like the missionaries of the MTC say, the days are long, but the weeks are short!! I can't believe that it's already my P-day again and that i have been in here 3 weeks. I feel like i have been in here forever because i have learned so much.
I love you guys and hope that you're enjoying the family reunion, and Denver getting ready for Eli, and i hope that Belgium is great. I pray for you often and thank you so much for your prayers. Please keep writing if you can. i look forward to it everyday!! I love you all and give everyone my love. la iglesia es verdadera!!
Love,
Elder Glover
p.s. - what's going on in the nba with free agencey? and i heard a rumour BYU got invited to the Big 12. is that true????

Letter #2 Happy Father's Day

Hola Familia!!! Que pasa?
Happy Father's day Dad!!! My card is on the way and you should probably get it in the next few days.. I forgot to write it last p-day so i wrote and sent it today. Thanks so much for continuing to write me.. I love at the end of the day reading your notes and then writing in my journal. i haven't missed a day so far.. i have really come to love that time of the day.
So this next little bit may be a little crazy.. I'm going to try to answer some of your guy's questions. First off, I see Kevin a couple times a week.. It is great seeeing him.. He has such a great spirit about him. i actually saw him this morning at b-fast, and he has been speaking in all portuguese for the past couple days. This sunday we are gonna try to take our picture by the map. Congrats on Scott's mission call.. that is fantastic. I may get to see him. but we will see.. Mexico's visa are really hard to get right now.. there are elder's here who have been in the mtc for 16 weeks. so pray for me and that i will get my visa. That is crazy about how much you know about elder cole's family. he was asking if we knew the mons (?) and i told him yeah.. he said they are really good friends with them. but elder cole is doing good.. his ankle is better so that's not a problen but im still learning patience. Dad, i get to excerise everyday. I have gym once a day for 50 mins or so everyday except p day and sunday.. i've been playing a lot of basketball. My typical day at the MTC is filled with lots of class. we have class usually twice a day for about 4 hours at a time. they are usually pretty long, but i am learning so much and have really great teachers.. Hermano Bahr is a favorite throughout my zone and i get to have him everyday. Mom, glad to hear that camp went well.. I know the Lord was proud and greatful for your effort and it sounds like all the girls were too. Sorry that you got released. That's a kinda lame move by the stake pres. Very ungrateful!!! Mom, thanks for the scriptures in your notes.. I love em and they always are something i need to hear. thanks.. so the enter is not working so im just gonna keep typing, sorry. my spanish is going good.. don de langues es verdadero.. the gift of tongues is real!!! we went to the trc this week and we got to know someone in spanish and then taught about the restoration in english, well we were supposed to.. our investigator had miss read and thought we had to speak in spanish the whole time.. so elder cole and i taught half of our lesson in spanish.. i don't know how or what i said, but the investigator siad it worked and he felt the spirit.. it made me realize i can do this..There are two things i want you all to read.. First, go read the 2010 June Liahona message by Pres.. Monson on LDS..org.. I love the last paragraph that starts with The Redeemer chose... Its awesome.. Also, my favortie scripture i found this week was D&C 123:17.. i love how it say do cheerfully all that is in your power.. it has really brought strength to me.. Ok could you send me a few things.. My 2 pair of my black nike crew socks that are in my bottom drawer, my blue addias pants, my light blue polo t-shirt, the words to Come Thou Fount, and anything else you may think i would like.. Except gum, i can't chew that.. I have just found that i use all my PE clothes and wind up needin someting to wear on p day.. Also im going to send home one of my spanish scripture sets.. I got another one when i got here.. i may send home the ones we bought because the other ones have tabs, and i like having those because some of the names of the book are different. I'm doing well and i love the spirit of the mtc.. In a conversation with pres.. barfield he said the mtc was a purifying experience.. it truly is.. i can see the Lord purifying me to become the missionary he needs.. i love it!! keep writing me please.. i get them everyday exceopt they dont print off dear elders on sats or suns.. i love you guys and pray for you often.. tell everyone hi and have fun at the family reunion.. (oh and sorry about all the periods too, the computer is being dumb today) Te amo, Elder Glover

Subject: Re: Hola

Hola Familia!!!!!! Que pasa??
Life in the MTC has been great so far. I feel like I have been in here a month, but its only been a week. So i'm sent you a letter last friday i think and yes today is my pday. Hump day baby, exactly when i wanted it. I'm doing good. So far I haven't found any thing that ihave forgot. I think i will be ok because i can get pretty much whatever i need in the bookstore. Thanks for all the birthday wishes and wirting on dear elder. it made this past week great. Without including dear elder, i got about 28 letters or birthday cards. it was really comforting to know how many people are thinking about me and praying for me!! Oh and mom, i got the package on monday. THANKS!!! Also, could you send me grandma and grandpa daly address and john and michelle address. thanks. Cory, keep me uptodate with the world cup!! gracias! And thats good to hear the woodpecker is quieter. that is one blessing about not being there, I don't have to listen to that pest!!! Hey could you send Kevin's emails to me via dear elder. I would love ot have em!! And how did cassie's talk go on sunday???
So my room is great!! I really like the other companionship in my room. they are great examples!!. My companion is Elder Cole. He is from Cedar Hills, but has lived all over the US, kinda like me. This week has been kinda hard tho. He hurt his ankle so he was on crutches a couple days so it was hard to be on time and get to class. It is getting bettr tho. I am learning a great deal of patience. I feel like we can work harder but its hard sometimes to get him motivated and working hard. I feel like i am always taking the iniciative, so i really want him to work on leading the companionship. But I want to work hard and be obedient, so I have been trying to make sure we are. BUt i really do love him and am glad he is my companion. Its good for me to have to learn patience and that every companion isn't going to be easy.
I started the BOM sice I have been here and it is awesome. I have been keeping a study journal as i read and i really feel that i have had some cool insights to the BOM and different scriptures. I was in 1 nephi 3:4-7 and something really struck me. It talks about how they went into the house of laban to obtain the records and to bring them into the wilderness and that his brothers murmered but nephi didn't. I thought about how im in the mtc obtaining the knowledge i need to take it out to the lost people of mexico. and that when i dont murmer i am in the Lords favor. and just like 3:7 says, the Lord has prepared the way. I just have to go and do. I have had a great increase in faith since i have been hear. I can see that when i am working hard and being obedient and being deliegent in evreything i do, I can see how the Lord is preparing me and that he is preparing mexico. I have found a lot of strength in the Lord as I look unto in all my thoughts and everything I do. D&C 6:33--37 has brough me a lot of strength.
Sunday was really good. Priesthood is in english but sac mtg is in spanish. But i did prepare my first talk in spanish. hopefully they get better as i learn. MY spanish is coming along. I have seen that the gift of tongues is a very real thing. I already know how to pray and can bear my testimony in spanish and it has only been a week!!!
Sunday night firesides and tuesday devotionals are great. Tueday we had Donald L. Hallstrom form the presidencey of the 70. He was great. It was exactly what i need to hear about the lord is with you and preparing you. And how i can give my heart and will to the Lord. Very powerful!!!
Well the time is running out and i want to make sure it sends. I love you guys and i pray for you!! I hope that mom has had a great time at girls camp and that things worked out. She has been in my prayers a lot. Thank you all for writing on dear elder. I LOVE IT!!! So please keep doing it. I miss you all!!!!
Te Amo Mucho,
Elder Glover
