Letter #12 La Iglesia es verdadera!

Hola familia!!!
Moses Lake is great. It is starting to get a little cooler, but it stills feels really nice here. There are a lot of farms here so that is what a lot of people do, especially the Mexicans. It seems like everyone either works in the campo (fields) or one of the factories. Elder Kurtz and I teach a lot of humble people. I love it. And it is nice because we speak a lot of spanish throughout the day. That has been a great blessing to me because it is helping me learn so much quicker.
So this week has been great. Earlier this week, I went on an exchange with the DL in his english area and that went really well. It was neat to see how the work differs for an english elder and a spanish elder. It makes me get excited for Mexico, where i can just talk to EVERYONE!!!!!! Speaking of Mexico, I haven't heard any word on the visa, so please continue to keep it in your prayers. But i know that it is all in the Lord's time. Back to this week, Elder Kurtz and I had two people commit to a baptism date on Spet 25!!!!!!!!!! It was awesome!! Their names are Sergio and Alicia. They have to get married first, so hopefully on Setp 18 that will happen and then the next week they can get baptized. It was sweet seeing someone commit to baptism. That covenant with the Lord is going to change their lives so much!!! So pray for them and that they will be ready for that day.
We also continued to teach Uriel. We have focused on the Word of Wisdom and taught him "15 Steps to Stop Smoking" workshop. It is something that the Church has put out and of all the people that really follow it, everyone has stopped. So he hasn't smoked since weds which is a miracle. It has been amazing to see him grow. He is curious about the church and really wants to learn more. He had to work this sunday, so he couldn't come to church, but he said he is going to come this Sunday. But it has really been cool to get to know Uriel and teach him.
My spanish is coming along. At times I get so frustrated because I can't understand and other times I can understand, but I don't know how to say what I want to say. But I realize I have only been learning for 2.5 months and I know that as I continue to study and work at it, the Lord will bless me with the gift of tongues and the gift of interpretation of tongues. Its a miracle that I know how much I know just after 2.5 months. I am speaking more and teaching more though. I have really been trying to try more and not worry if I am going to mess up. Because the more I try and make mistakes, the more I will learn. So like you said mom, line upon line, precept upon precept.
It sounds like everyone is doing well. I'm glad that you had a fun time up in DC with everyone. Have fun with Tiffany and Eli!! That will be a blast. Ryan, have a Happy Birthday this week!!! I hope that Erin and Kherington spoil you rotten!!!!! Thanks for all the prayers and the emails!!!!! Stay safe from Hurricane Earl!!
Love yall!!!!
Con Amor,
Elder Glover
p.s. - because of labor day, next week I have P-day on tuesday!!!!! Look forward to all the emails and letters!!!

Letter #11 Estoy Viviendo

Hola Familia
WOW!!! What a great week! It is so good to be out here in Washington doing missionary work and using my spanish. I am in an area called Moses Lake North and I am serving in the Moses Lake 9th Spanish Branch. I am speaking pretty much all spanish because we turn all of the english investigators over to the english elders and we just focus on the Spanish investigators. That is a huge blessing for me because of the 6 that came out, 3 are full time english and the other 3 are spanish. So that is a huge blessing that I am still a Spanish missionary. And I am actually serving in the same area as Elder Johnson. It is kinda crazy!!! But my companions name is Elder Kurtz. He is from Prescot, Arizona and is actually a convert. He got baptized when he was 9. So that is really cool. And He has been in the mission 6 months and has been in Moses Lake for 6 months as well. He is Awesome. He is a great trainer and is really helping me out a lot. I have been helping in lessons and I have been working on talking more when we contact people. Its hard sometimes because I have no idea what the people are saying to us. But that will come. We are also in an all bike are...which I love. It is so great not being in a car and being able to exercise and sweat. I love it!!
So this week has been awesome. We had a really cool experience on Friday. We were riding our bikes and this guy pulled up in his truck and was like, Are yall the missionaries. We said, yeah. He was like, yall speak spanish. We said, Si. He then said, K follow me to my house, yall are gonna teach me right now!!! So we did. When he got out of his truck the first thing he said was, I smoke and I drink and I want to change my life. It was so cool!! We taught him about the word of wisdom and actually have an appointment with him tonight. It was so cool to see how the Lord put us exactly where we needed to be so we could teach this guy.
Another cool thing that happened this week was that Elder Christansen from the 70 came and toured our mission. It was cool for two reasons. First, on Sunday night he gave a fireside to just the Spanish population here in Moses Lake. He spoke in spanish and it was so cool being able to bring two investigators to it. The spirit was so strong and it was awesome to see a GA speak in Spanish. Second, yesterday, we had a conference with him. He talked about so many cool things like recognizing the Spirit and understanding how the church is changing missionary work. The First Presidency is trusting the missionaries more and really trying to simplify everything so missionaries can just follow and teach by the Spirit. It was such a cool experience to sit at the feet of a GA and to learn from him.
So this is the mission office address. You can send everything here and then they will forward it to me. Oh but packages have to go through the post office so that can get forwarded to me. So i would probably use the flat rate boxes when you send stuff.

So I will be looking forward to letters and packages :) Speaking of packages could you send me a few things. Could you send me some more stamps, my school backpack (the black northface one), a box of those Nature Valley Peanut granola bars, and any other snacks that you think I may like. Those things would be great!!! Also, maybe some pictures. Thank you!!!!!!
So about printing, I can print, but it costs money. So maybe you could just snail me stuff. Jason, could you snail mail me yalls talks. I would really like that.
So I think I answered most questions, but if not, mail me a letter or email me. My p-day is monday, so that is when I will normally be writing you. Thanks for all the prayers and the support. I feel em and I love you all. The church is true and this work is the Lord's work. I am so glad to be out here in Washington teaching the hispanic people. It is truly a blessing to be using my spanish everyday. I will be so much more prepared by the time i get to MExico.
Con Amor,
Elder Glover
Ps - So a girl is serving here in Moses Lake named Brooke Naylor and she is from castle rock and I guess she was actually in our ward when we lived there. She said she remembered Jason because he dated her cousin Brittany Naylor back in the day. Kinda crazy how small the world is!!! Do you guys remeber them?

Letter #9 I'm in Mexico...Well I Should Be!

Hola Familia
So its really wierd to think that i should be in Mexico right now. Crazy huh? Time has just flown by and i can't believe that the summer is over and people are gettting ready to start school again. It sounds like the wedding and the blessing were really nice. Thanks for the couple of pics Jason. He's a little stud muffin just like his uncle. That was cool too that you got to see some missionaries from Mexico Northwest. That is crazy 12x12 with 8 million people. That is NUTS!!!!!!!! But what a tender mercy of the Lord too see and get to talk with thos Elders.
So Dad, I got two shots this week. They were the Hep A second shot and the Typhium (?) shot. It was $125. I am sending you home a claim form to see if you can get any money back. I hope you can!!!! Also, what's Jason's exercise program? haha what an oxymoron haha But seriously, I need something. The fruit is rarely good and not rotten. I have been eating loads of bananas but they just serve us a ton of startch here. Hopefully once I start walking down in Mexico I can get back down to the 140s.
Mom, could you see if they make a pocket Children's Song BOok in Spanish. I can get a big one here but I didn't know if they make a pocket size one. If they do could you get me one and send it to me. If not, just let me know and I will get the big one here.
Erin, Thanks so much for the pics of Kherington. It sounds like she is keeping you and Ryan busy busy busy. I can't wait to see what she is like when she is 3!!!!!!!!!!! And her hair has gotten so long!!! Crazy has how fast she is growing. When I get home she may be up to my chest! haha
Well word on the visas. We still dont have them and the travel office doesn't have any idea when we are going to get them. I have heard that my district won't get ours for six weeks but who really knows. Not me. I just continue to work hard and pray for my visa to come. I'm ready to leave, but I know I got something important to learn. It is all in the Lord's time frame.
So this past week in class we listened to an old MTC devotional by Elder Bednar. It was about the Spirit. He addressed the question of "How do I know if it's just me or if it's the Spirit?" He said "Quit worrying about it. Stop fusing. Stop stressing. Quit Worrying!" He said, "Be a good boy and a good girl, keep the commandments, honor and keep your covenants, and press forward. Your steps will be guided." It was such a great talk to here because I know that it is hard to know if its the Spirit telling you what to do. But as long as I am doing my best, being a good boy, striving to be obedient, and out working, the Lord will guide my steps. I wish you all could here it because it is so good. He talked about the importance of working and not sitting around and waiting. If we want to Spirit to work with us, we gotta be moving and working. And he said that in the moment we often don't know that it was the spirit, but as we reflect and other events happen in our life, we will come to recognize that it was the Spirit.
I also read a really good talk by Pres Eyring from OCt 2007 conf. called O Remember Remember. It was really interesting about how important it is to recognize the Lord's hand in our life. That is something that I have benn really trying to do the past couple of weeks. Is look for miracles everyday and recognize the Lord's hand in my life. It has been amazing to seen how much the Lord's hand really iis in my life. And I know that he is in your life too!!!!!
Well I will keep you posted about my visa as I find out what is going on. Thanks for all the prayers and letters this week. I really feel of all the love and support from you all. La iglesia es verdadera y tambien el Libro de Mormon es verdadero. Leanlo!!!!!
Con Amor,
Elder Glover

Letter #8 No VISA Staying at MTC

Hola Familia!
Como estan? Me dia de preparacion es bueno. Fui corriendo esta manana y tambien fui Como estan? Me dia de preparacion es bueno. Fui corriendo esta manana.
I am so out of shape from doing hardly any physical activity. I have also seen 159 on a scale!!!! Since the 1st of May i have put on 15 pounds! No me gusta. But I guess that is what happens when you go from playing basketball 4 days a week to sitting down for 10 or so hours a day. But pretty soon I will be up and walking around so I'm not to worried.
So how is life in Denver with everyone? It sounds like you all are having a blast playing with everyone and enjoy Eli. That is so cool that so many people will be at his blessing on Sunday!!! And make sure to tell Christie and John congrats!!!!!!
Ryan and Erin, it sounds like Kherington is keeping you both super busy. I can't wait to see what she is like when she is 3. Give her a big ol hug from her favorite uncle!!!! And it sounds like Belgium is treating you well. Have you been on any adventures lately??
Okay, well you are all probably wondering about my visa. WELL...I AM LEAVING THE MTC.....................Just kidding!!!! We got a letter in the mail last thursday saying that we had not recieved our visas and that we will be staying in the MTC until they come. So who knows when that is going to happen. But i do know that when we do get our visas, we will have to go up to SLC to sign for our visas and then we will leave 10-14 days after that. So I will be here for probably at least another 2 weeks. But in these past week I have really learned a lot and I really feel that my spainsh is coming along, so I'm okay with staying. But I am also ready to leave and get out doing the work and working hard.
Well my spanish has really been coming along this week. I have just been reading the BOM in spanish A TON and that has helped me the most since I have been here. There is great power in reading the BOM in the language you want to learn. I don't know what it is, but I has definately been the thing that has helped me the most to learn the language. So Mom, keep up the reading and by the time I get home we will be able to talk to each other in spanish. Dad and Cory, do the same! Dad It will help to bring back the spanish that you used to know and Cory, it'll help you in your spanish class and understanding. There is so much power in reading the BOM.
Thanks for all your dear elders this week. There were so many days where what you all said was an answer to my prayers. It is amazing how the Lord looks out for you and really knows how to help you. It is also amazing to see that as I am praying with more faith and more sincerity that I recognize and see the Lord's hand in my life more. The little things have become more noticable and the Lord is truly blessing me in every aspect of my life.
This week has been pretty hard for our district. We had two elders go home this past week. One for medical reason and the other for something else. It has been pretty hard to see our district get so small. Since the beginning, we have dropped down to 7 elders. We started with 11. 2 went to Peru and then the other 2 had to leave. But on the bright side, they both should be able to return here in the next little while.
So this week we have been talking a lot about finding joy in the journey. We read a talk by Pres Monson called "Finding JOy in the JOurney" ( i think) but it talked about how there is never anything so constant as change. Moving around has definately helped me with all the change that has been happening. From my district to my visa, everything is chagning. I am really starting to see the importance of what you write me mom, "Remember to enjoy the journey". That is somethin i definately need to do a better job at. It like life, sometimes we can get just too caught up in the moment and we forget to enjoy the journey.
BUt I am enjoying the journey of my visa. It has taken a lot of unexpected twists, but the blessings that come from enduring well are never ending. I know the Lord knows me and what is happening and there is obviously a reason for it all. My faith is strong and I love being out here learing and serving.
Thanks for all the prayers, thoughts, and letters. They are tender mercies in my life. Have fun at the wedding and blessing this weekend. Its like another mini family reunion. I love you all and keep writing!!!!!
Con amor,
Elder Glover
PS did you get my package? and when did you get it?
