Letter# 35 A Good Start in Queretaro!!!

Area: Queretaro, Mexico
Companion: Elder Rodriquez

¡Hola Familia!

It has been a good week here in Querètaro. ANd it sounds like everyone has been enjoying this past week. Mom, glad to hear that you and Aunt Kathy are having some good ol bonding time. And Jason and Tiffany, suerte with all of the decisions and homework. It sounds like you guys have a lot going on and that for the next little bit you guys are going to be stressed to the max! Good luck with everything! Mom, I still haven`t gotten the package but I am pretty sure it is in the offices. My companion is going to the offices tomorrow so he is going to get it for me. I don`t know of anything to send me. Maybe peanut butter. Because I love that stuff. And pictures! Oh and some black socks.

But this week has been a really good week. I really love my new companion. We are getting along really well. It has been a good change for me and to have a companion that I am meshing with. We are both laid back and easy going people, but work hard. That has been good for me to have someone I can mesh with and enjoy. This will be a good change for us if things keep going the way they did this week.

During the week we were finding tons of people. Some that were interested and others not so much. BUt yesterday we had 4 people in church and they all have baptism dates for this month. So we are going to continue to work hard and get them excited about their baptisms. There is a lot of work to be done in our area. Our zone is one of the lowest zones right now and our district too. So there is a lot of work to be done and a lot of success to be had. Elder Rodriguez and I are really going to see some great fruits this change.

But this week I had been reading in 1 Nefi. I was reading in Chapter 14 one morning this week. THis chapter talks a lot about the great and abominable church or the church of the devil. About how it has so much power and how the saints of the church of God are so few, but have more power because they have the power of God. But what was interesting was what I saw during the day. Here in Querètaro it is very, very, very catholic. And during this day I saw it more than I have ever seen it. I saw how much the church had corrupted people to believe incorrect doctrines. It was really sad, but an experience in itself to read about a prophecy in the BOM and then to see it in real life.

We need to develope our own testimonies every single day. THe days that we forget to say our prayers in the morning and night or we don`t read the scritpures, especially the BOM, are the days we Satan will have the most power over us. We need to continually nourish ourselves in the good word of GOd. And then we need to share it with others. People are looking and waiting for us to open our mouths and invite them.

Well I got to go, but thanks so much for all the thoughts, prayers, and everything. I really appreciate it all. Hope you all have a great week. Love y`all!

Letter #34 Transfer!!!

¡Hola Familia!

Thanks so much for all the letters and notes this week. I think I only missed a letter from Cory ; ). BUt it sounds like everyone is doing well whether in CO, Belgium, or the beach. Mom, I hope that seminary went well for you today! You are going to do a great job and reallly make a big impact on the youth. You always have and will continue to do so. THat was funny about the package. COry, I hope you are enjoying my sweatshirt and the rest of my clothes. And Ryan, I hope you are a ok now. A kidney stone has got to be the worst.
So this week were changes and I got changed! Right now I am in Querètaro, Mèxico. I left the state of Mexico for Querètaro. My new companion is Elder Rodriquez. I really think we will get along and have a good change together. I am excited to see a different part of the mission and a different part of Mexico. And I am excited to continue to learn and grow with a different companion. I think I was ready for a change.

Our house is good. It is a little dirty, but that will change within this week. Mom., I am so thankful for your cleanliness! It is such an important thing to have in your life. But I am excited to meet the members and get to know the ward this week. It should be a good change for me.

But this week was a really good week for Elder Irigoyen and I. We ended up going to the Centro de Visitantes at the Mexico City Temple with some of our investigators. It was such an awesome experience. I was going to send some photos, but the USB port is hiding, so I will send them next week. But it was a really great experience for our investigators. THe mom is named Consuelo and we took 2 of her children with us. ONe of her kids is named Aldofo and he has Epelepsi (sp?). We started our drive to the temple and within 5 mins, Aldofo had a seizure. I was certain that we were going to drop them back off at her house, but she wanted to continue and go. We did and Consuelo had a very spirit enriching experience. We watched the Testaments and it was so powerful with everything that happened during the day. It was great.

Things are going well down here South of the Border. I can`t believe that Januray is already almost over. It is amazing how time flies. Thanks for all the love, prayers, support, letters, and everything. I am so greatful for everything youy all do for me. Continue to pray for me and that I can have a great change with Elder Rodriquez here in Querètaro. I will write more next week. There isn`t a lot of time because of the changes. Love y`all!!!!

Letter #33 Another Week Gone By!

¡Hola Familia!
Thanks so much for the letters and pictures Cory. I think you should get the Mexican guitar and when I get back maybe we could trade! haha Just kidding! But it sounds like everyone one is doing good except Ryan. I can`t believe that he burned a whole in Kheringtons stuffed animal! ¡Què triste! ¡Ojala què Kherington le perdona para que èl pueda tener mas felicidad! But I am sure she will. And thanks for telling my about Breman. That is really sad to hear, especially because he has less than 6 months in his mission. And could you send me Bret Tagg`s mission address too. And Tyson Smith`s address. And Ashlee`s address too. Thanks!!!!
But this week was a tougher week compared to last week. But we are still seeing miracles in our area and having `people come to church. One thing I love to see is when people come to church on their own. Yesterday there was a lady named Gabi that just showed up to church. After relief society we had a lesson with her and she accepted a baptism date for Jan 30th. It was a really good lesson and she is awesome. She really understood everything we talked about. I loved it. The only problem is that she leaves really early for work and doen`t get home till 9 or 9:30, so we are gonna see if we an get permission from President Nancollas to teach her with a member.
We also had a sad experience this week. One of the families that we have been teaching and came to church last week dropped us. It was really sad because the wife, Rosaura, really enojyed the church and what she felt and experienced. But the problem is with her husband. He is a strange man. TO explain him, he works as a clown! He is a very good actor and just would tell us what we wanted to hear. It was really sad to see this family drop us because Rosaura had such a great experience and really felt the spirit strong. But because of her husband, they dropped us for now. Hopefully in a couple months, missionaries will pass by again and the husband will have had a change of heart or a more open heart. I was reading a letter from Kevin that you sent, and here in Mexico we experience the same thing with husbands not allowing wifes meet with us. It is really sad, but for everything there is a reason.
This week I have also really seen the importance of our morning prayers. This week I have really tried to make my morning prayers more effective and meaningful. There is a quote by Pres. Hinckley in Ch4 of PMG about morning prayers and it really struck me. SO this past week I have really seen a difference in me because of the way I approach my morning prayers. I have recognized the Spirit a lot more and the promptings of the spirit and I have really seen a difference in my enthusiasm for the work. I am usually a happy guy and try to always have a smile, but through my morning prayers, I have seen, even more so, the blessings of the Lord in my life and so many more reasons to smile.
I included two pictures. One is me with a horse skull. We were cleaning a yard and found it. And the other is a sign I saw on a bus that we were on. I thought it was funny, but even more so because nobody can understand it down here. I hope you guys get a kick out of it too!
But thanks for everything!!! I really appreciate the prayers and thoughts and just everything. I hope that y`all are staying warm and that Kherington found it in her heart to forgive Ryan. I am going to mail that package tomorrow for you guys. Mom, enjoy seminary. Cory, stay classy!! And Ryan, be nice to Kherington`s toys! Love y`all!!!
Con Amor,
Elder Glover
