Letter #39 Do Your Part!

¡Hola Familia!

So it sounds like everyone is doing well this week. Dad and Gpa are pretty proud of their Boilers. Tell Adrian congrats with BYU and alll the track stuff. And tell Uncle Adrian congrats with the job. Mom, right now I am doing pretty good with all my stuff. But if you could tell Breman to write me or give me his address that would be great. It is a shame to hear that the mission didn´t change him, but I guess you get out of it what you put in it. Oh, and have you heard anything about Ryan Cude and how he´s doing and if he has changed his mind about a mission? Let me know if you have.

Okay, so this week has been a pretty tough week. We went from our most successful week to our least successful week. But things are still going good with Francisco and Estela. I am a little worried about Francisco though. Last week he went out with soe of his friends and he said that he didn´t drink or smoke, but I just feel like he is not telling us the truth. But he has his baptismal interview this week so hopefully things will get cleared up and we can know forsure if he is still completing his goals. He is a good guy and I really hope that he is still clean. Him and Estela will be good members of the church. My other investigators are doing well too. It is cool to see the change people make. To live the gospel is really a sacrifice. BUt it is sacrifice for something better.

This week I have really been impressed with missionary work. Everyday I ask people to change their lives and really put their trust and faith in God. Something that really struck me was with keeping the sabbath day holy. When we share the first lessons we always talk about prophets and how they all have fruits. We talk about Moíses and share the 4th commandment with them and invite them to church. A lot of the times people say, I sell things. And Sunday is the day when I sell the most and make the most money. It really struck me this week how much faith it really takes to obey the commandments. I ask people to come to church the day they make the most money, but I know that when people make the commitment, the Lord will bless them with their needs. We don´t always know the when and how. But we DO know, that as we fulfill our part of the commandments and we have faith and trust the God will bless us, we will ALWAYS experience the blessings and hve our needs fulfilled. It is hard, but as we do it, we truely come to recognize the hand of the Lord in our life.

And my suggestion for the week is, "Don´t be a scrub." Actually, it is advice from the mom of Joseph B. Wirthlin. I have been reading some of his talks lately and that is advice that I really like. "Don´t be a scrub. You can do better." Oh, and the other one that I really love and it has really changed the way I go about life is, "Come what may, and love it!" Both are advice from Joseph B. Wirthlin´s mom. Apply it this week.

Well thanks for everything. Mom, I got this smilebox. I love em. Whenever you or anyone want´s to send a smilebox, they are much welcomed. But thanks so much for all the prayers for me and my investigators. I feel them everyday, and they are of much stegnth. I love y´all!

Letter #38 It`s been a hot one!!!!!

¡Hola Familia!
It sounds like everyone has had a busy week but a good week. Dad, Congrats on your BOILERS!!!!!! That is cool to here that they had a big week. And I am glad that you guys got the package. I really like those mazapans. THey are tasty. And mom that is a good idea about Bret`s letters. I love hearing about everybody`s mission. Its fun to see that people are experiencing the same thing as me and I find a lot of good advice in em.
But before I tell you about my week, I think that I better tell you something funny, well for me sad, but funny too. So we went on Saturday to see how Laura was doing and to make sure she was going to be at church. When we went by she wasn`t home, but her sister Josefina was and brother in law Dagoberto were home. We were talking with them and Josefina told me that I am getting fat!!!!!! She says that since I have been in Querètaro, I have gt fat. It was pretty funny. But I guess it is time for me to skow down on the tacos and gringas at night and start exercising in the morning. I think that has been a problem. But I think a little mor exercise will help.
But anyway, enough about how I am getting fat. This week was a good week for Elder Rodriguez and I. We had 5 new investigators in Sac Mtg and 3 of them have a baptismal date for March 6. And Francisco and Estela are still doing good. They have been to church for the past 3 weeks and they are awesome investigators. We are just waiting for Francisco so we can baptize them. He has an addiction to cigaros, but he has been completing his goals. This week is going to be hard for him because he is going to stop smoking completely, but he can do it. Pray EXTRA hard for him. If all goes well and he doesn`t smoke, he and Estela are going to get baptized Mrach 6. Pray that he can overc overcome this addiction and all the temptations.
So this week I have really been focusing a lot on the Book of Mormon. I have been reading different talks on the BOok of Mormon and studying in Capìtulo 5 of PMG. It has been awesome. I love the Book of Mormon. It is such a powerful book. As we read it and then put its teachings into practice, we will really change our lives. Everyday we should read from the Book of Mormon. IF we do, we also have just a little more stregnth to fight off Satan. The Book of Mormon is the most true book. It was written for us. And everytime we read it, something new will touch our hearts.
Well I hope that everybody is doing well. Ryan and Erin, good luck with all the preperation for little Kevin. Give Kherington a big old kiss and hug from her Uncle Elder GLover. Jason, good luck with the GMAT (if you haven`t already taken it)! Jason and Tiffany, stay warm in Denver and give Eli a bg old kiss and hug from his Uncle Elder GLover. Cory, WRITE ME!!!! ;) No but I hope everything is going well with ya bud. And Mom enjoy seminary. You really do make a HUGE impact on the kids!!!!! And Dad, enjoy yur Boilers and this time of year for me. It is the BEST!!!!!
Well I love you guys. Thanks for all the thoughts, prayers, etc. You guys are the best. Love y`all!!!
Con Amor y un abrazo

Letter #37 A Week of Firsts!!!

¡Hola Familia!
So we will see how much I Get written because the space bar isn´t working very well at all. BUt it sounds like every one is doin well. Cory it sounds like you had a grerat birthday, but how are you doing? Have you had your first date yet? Dad, I took out 1000 pesos today. I think it was a little much, but thanks for it. I have to buy another watch too so it should be good. We get 1350 pesos at the beginning of the month and on the 15 we get 650 pesos in Queretaro. It is enough sometimes, depending on what is going on in the month. But it is good with budgeting your money. But thanks!!
Well, as you can tell from thepictures, i had my first baptism here in Mexico. Laura got baptized this Sunday and it was really good. It was cool to see her overcome all of the family problems and be courageuos in following what she know is right. And then the other picture is of a pet armadillao. Man it is so cool!!!!!!!!!!!!! I never thught that I would see an armadillo up close, but itis awesome.
This coming week should bea good week for ElderRodriguez and I. Pray for our investigator Estela. She is hopefully going to get baptized this Sunday. She is a really cool lady and it has been good to anweser all of her doubts and questions. This gospel is so true. It is amazing me how itjust makes so much sense. And pray for her son Francisco too. He is ready to get baptizedbut has an addiction with cigaros. He has to wait 30 days till we can baptize him. Pray that he can quit smoking. They are awesome! And they are the ones that have the armadillo.
But this past week I have been reading about the Last Supper and Christ´s atoning sacrifice in the Garden of Gethsemane in Jesus the Christ. It is such a powerful book. It really puts a powerful perspective on what Christ did for us. I am so thnakful that everyday I have the opportunity to repent and find forgiveness. The gospel truly is the great news. There is so much hope in it. Life tries us and Satan does everything so that we will fall away, but we need the gospel more than ever. It is our sure foundation. As we keep pressing forward, we find more and more stregnth from the gospel.
Well sorry for the shortness the letter and for all the extra spaces and errors. This space bar is drivingme crazy!!!! And there ísn´t a whole lot of time write. I hope that everyone has great week! Happy Valentine´s Day!!!!!!!!!!!! And Jason, buena suerte en el GMAT! Crush it!!!! Use your little noggin!! And COry, stay away from the girls. :) I love yall!!!

Letter #36 No Title this Week

¡Hola Familia!
Well this week has been another good week. Like Dad said, it just seemed to fly by. I can`t believe that I am already in the third week of this change. It is crazy how fast time can fly. I am sure that everyone is feeling the same way since Cory turned the big ol 16 today. ¡FELIZ CUMPLEAÑOS! I can`t believe that you are already 16 bud. That is crazy. Mom, thanks for the package with everything. It was great!! And thanks for the iPod and speaker. The apartment is so much better with music. And thanks for this other package too. I am excited to get it. Hey, I need to get some stuff for my feet because all of this walking is talking a tole on them. COuld you guys put some money on my card so that I can get some powder and athletes foot cream for my feet asnd to get AAA batteries for my speaker? Let me know if you can. Thanks.
So this week was a good week. Elder Rodriguez had to go to Mexico this week and so on Wednesday I was with a guy, Gonsalo, that is leaving on his mission for Medidad in two week. It was really good to work with Gonsalo and to see his excitement. He is going to be such a great missionary. It was fun to take over an area that I don`t know very well and learn a lot as a ``senior companion``. It was a good experience and I really enjoyed this one day.
But as the week went on, it just got harder. We had 3 people fall off of their baptism dates this week. Francisco was a reference from a member that Elder Rodriguez and I have been teaching, but this past week we had to pass him over to some other Elder`s because he doesn`t live in our area. In fact, he lives in the other stake. It was such a bummer to have to pass him off. And then we are teaching another Francisco and he is awesome too. His girlfriend is a member and they were living together but when we taught the laaw of chastity, they decided to seperate until they get married. It was awesome. And then we taught the WoW and we thought that everything was going to be ok because we had already asked him about it in our first visit. But come to find out, he smokes like 10 cigaretts a day. So we set up a plan with him and he is working on that addiciton. And then Laura. Laura has a lot of troubles with her family and they don`t want her te oget baptized, except her sister who is a member. She had a huge arguement with them and fell off date. Then on Wednesday, she told us that she was going to get baptized on Sunday. Then on friday, she had another huge arguement with her family and fell off date again.
I really saw the presence of Satan this week. He has so much power and really does everything to destroy this wor. We are in a constant battle with him and we need to do everything to fight back. Reading and praying are our sources of strength. So could you guys please pray for my investigators, especially Laura, Francisco, Alejandra and Eleazar that they can feel the importance of baptism and make the decision to be baptized.
Well I got to go. Thanks for all you guys do for me. I love yall and hope that you have a great week. Happy Birthday COry. Enjoy your 16th birthday.
Con Amor
