Letter #21 I'm At the MTC!

10-30-10

Hola familia

So I got permission to write you and let you know that i am at the MTC again. I had asked my mission president when we were going down to mexico and he said that he had heard on Thursday. So I was going to wait to call home then, be we actually won't be leaving till sometime next week. So I am writing to let yall know that I am safe and sound and back at the MTC. My new address is

MTC Mailbox #352

2005 N 900 E

Provo, UT 84604

So yeah, you guys can write me dear elders so that I can get those once again.

So yesterday, we went up to the MExican consulate to sign our promisos so that we can get our visas. So now we are all just waiting to have the consulate sign our visas so we can take off for Mexico. They said we should get them probably by Monday or Tuesday. So I am thinking we are going to be leaving by Wednesday of next week but we will see. And I am not exactly sure when our p-day is. I think it is Wednesday, but I could be wrong. But that shouldn't matter because I hopefully will call you guys from the airport before then.

So right now i am in a district of 28 Elders who are all going to Mexico. 22 are going to Mexico City East or North and then 6 are going to the Puebla Mission. We all have class together. It is kinda boring being back here, but it is a great opportunity to learn more about the things that I wish I would have known the first time. There is also a lot of time to study on your own which is nice to have because out in the field, study time is really limited. So, so far it has been good to be back for a couple days, but hopefully that's all it is. Not more than a week is what i am praying for. The field is just too much fun!!!!!!

But everything is going really well. our whole district is back together again. It is fun to see everyone and to hear of all the stories that we all had for our 3 months in the field. It is crazy to think that It has been 5 months since i left. Time sure is flying by. i think it just keeps getting faster too.

Oh and i also saw an elder from Quincy, Elder Hyer. He just came into the MTC a couple of weeks ago and he is going to Tonga. He came out with us for a day before he left so it was really good to see him again and to hear how he is liking the MTC. He is gonna be a great Elder out in Tonga. And I have also seen ssome friends from BYU that I didn't realize were here. I got to see Roger, the guy that lived next to Addison and I. And I also got to see Andrew. He roomed with Cam and Kev and he played intramural basketball and football with us. It has been great to see him.

And it has been great having gym again and playing basketball everyday. I am doing more exercise now since we have it for 50 mins instead of 30 mins. And i have been eating a lot more fruits and vegetables since I have been here, especially bananas. i wisshh i could buy em, but they just go bad way too fast.

So i am not sure what else to tell ya. Oh yeah, on thursday, Juana Yeates got baptized. i was sad to miss it,, but she is going to be an awesome member of the church. she was one of those special spirits that are prepared right now. That's the goal. To find those that are prepared to recieve the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Anyway, the clock is ticking down on me. i hope this was a surprise and that you all enjoyed knowing that II am safe and sound at the MTC. Hey, do you think that you could send me these things called "perfect push ups". You can get them at Wal Mart and they are like 20 bucks. I was going to go get em in Quincy, but then the call came and I left. So I was wondering if you could maybe send em to me once i get dowm to Mexico. oh and when youu send things to Mexico, put a whole bunch of pictures of the Virgin Mary on it. I have heard that is the best way to make sure that letters and packages make it to me. Kinda contradicts what I am teaching, but it works. haha But that is what an Elder told me he had to do when his brother served in the MExico City East mission. Virgin Mary (Virgin de Guadelupe). Well I love you guys. Thanks for all the prayers and thoughts and all the support. I hope that everything is going well in MB, Denver and Belgium. Love Yall!!!!

Love

Letter #20 A Week of Firsts! Again

Hola Familia

So this week was a week of firsts!!! A lot of good things happened...like we had two baptisms this saturday. Martin and Antonio Garcia got baptized Saturday afternoon at 4. It was a very special day. We had the YM President there and he gave great talk about baptism. And then the baptism was really nice. I was going to send you pictures, but I forgot my camera so maybe next time. Oh and I gave the talk on the Holy Ghost. And Mom, GUESS WHAT!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I played the piano at the baptism. Since I have been out here in WA I learned to play Come, Follow Me and Nearer My God to Thee. So I played those two songs for the baptism. Who would of ever thought I'd be playing the piano on my mission?????? BUt yeah, the mom of the boys, Monie Garcia, wasn't able to be baptized because she hadn't quit smoking so we postponed her baptism till this Saturday. I really hope and pray that she will be ready. We got her started on this program so hopefully, she will quit. And then in Sacrament Meeting yesterday the boys were confirmed and I got to confirm Antonio. It was very special and nice to see them recieve the Holy Ghost.
And then this Thurday we are having the baptism of Juana Yeates. She is so ready and excited for her baptism. She is going to be an awesome member of the church,. And she is bringing her husband, Fred Yeates, back into activity. She is a miracle!!!! But I won't be able to see it because I GOT MY VISA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know crazy right? But yeah, President Palmer called like 30 mins before the baptism and told me. I am so excited. I leave for Spokane tomorrow night and then on Wed. morning I am going to fly out of Spokane to SLC. And that is all I know. I am thinking that I will be back in the MTC for a couple of days before I actually head down to Mexico, but who cares. I am finally going.
It has been interesting to look back and reflect upon everything that has happened since I have been in WA in Moses Lake and here in Quincy. I was neat to look back and remember the miracles and recognize things that I have learned. It has been cool to see how many miracles have happened here in Quincy since I have been here and how much I have really come to love the people here in Quincy. I have a lot more relationships here in Quincy than I did in Moses Lake. But yeah, I am excited to go. But oh man, I am nervous. My world is going to be flipped upside down here in a little bit. It is like I did a miny mission and now I am headed out to the real thing. I am excited for it all and to take everything that I have learned to Mexico, especially the Spanish.
So anyway, I thought you all would be excited to here about that. It was some great news to me. Well, I am sure I will be having some kind of contact with you guys here in the next week or so again. I love you guys. Thanks for all the letters, emails, prayers, thoughts, and support. Love y'all!!!

Letter #19 A Great Week

Hola familia
Como estan? How is everybody doing this week. It sounds like life is going well in Myrtle Beach. Mom, my transfers are November 1st, so if you want to send me something you probably can, but I don't think i need anything really. I'm doing good with everythings that I have and dont really find a need or a want for much. But packages are always fun to get!
So my spanish is going well. I am learning more and more everyday. I can say most of what I want to say and I am understanding more and more. I love speaking the spanish language!!
So this week was GREAT!!!! This week, we taught 5 new investigators. 2 for the English ward and 3 for the spanish ward. I am really excited about teaching a guy named Rod Fenn and a hermana named Juana Yeats. Rod Fenn has a lot of mormon friends and is really lookoing for a church. He got tired of his. He said it was getting to charsmatic. So it is cool to see him really searching and looking for the truth. And Juana Yeates, WOW!!!!!!! She is so cool. She is married to an inactive member, Fred Yeates, who is the brother to a member of our stake presidency. In the past 3 weeks she has been to General Conference in SLC, had a spiritual touching experience during the sacrament, and got to shake Elder Scott's hand and talk with him. She is so eager to learn and so interested. She asked President Yeates, "When can I get baptized?" Man, it is amaziing how the Lord is preparing people and how when they find the Gospel how it affects them so much. I am so excited to teach her more and help prepare her for baptism.
So stake conference with Elder Scott was AWESOME!!! Because Elder Scoggin had to translate, we got to go to the Adult Session, the missionary meeting, the general session, and then right after the general session, Elder Scott had a little meeting with just the Spanish members. What an opportunity!!!!! He got to meet our on dates, The Garcia Family and shake their hands. THey were so excited. It was so special! During the missionary meeting, Elder Scott asked Elder Scoggin and I to share what we thought about President Yeates and how he has been helpng us teach Juana. It was cool to be called out of the audience by an Apostle and I got a chance to bear my testimony about how as members we need to love, love, love, build, build, build when their is someone investigating the church or with our recent converts and just with all the members in the church. It was a special opportunity. Then after the Spanish branch meeting with him, Elder Scoggin and I and two Elders from Ephrata had the chance to talk with him for just a sec. It was very special!
So those are just a few of the highlights from this week. This week was filled with miracles!! I have really learned a lot in this past week and I was so greatful I had the chance to be here to see everything that has happened in this week. I know that the Lord needed me here and may still need me here, who knows. But I am still praying for my visa and that I will get the opportunity to go down to Mexico City and serve the people down there. Mexicans are so humble and greatful. I was really touched by them this week as we taught some really awesome members and investigators. I know this church is true and that missionary work is real. Time is fllying by!!!
I love you guys! THanks for all the prayers and thoughts and letters! Jason, have fun being a ward missionary!! Love yall!!
Con Amor,
Elder Glover

Oh, I almost forgot. Our three on dates, Monie, Martin and Antonio are getting baptized this Saturday. Pray for them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Monie needs to stop smoking!!!!1 But everyone is really excited for their baptism and it has been neat to see the gospel change them. BUt please pray for them and that they will be able to be baptized and be ready for baptism this Saturday!!!! Love yall!!!

Letter #18 Lots of Ice-Cream

10-11-10

Hola Familia
So last night I put on about 10 pounds. YOu guys saw the pictures. I ate a half gallon of ice cream!!!!!! Needless to say, my weight losing isn't going to hot. JUst kidding. I actually am down to about 150 now so I am making progress. But that is a fun tradition that the Lybbert family has been doing for about 8 years. You may want to send the pictures to Justin because he was apart of it. It would bring back some old memories of his mission for him.
Well thanks for the emails and letters this week. Mom, I got the package. Thanks so much!!!! And man Kherington is HUGE!!!! I can't believe she is not even 2!!! But she is a cutie! Thanks so much for all the notes and prayers and support!
Well life is going good in Quincy. We have had a good week. The Garcia family is really doing well. Sister Garcia quit smoking yesterday which was awesome!! Her and the 2 boys are excited for their baptism dates on the 23 of October. It is cool to watch the gospel change lives. We also got a new investigaotr this week. Her named is Juana Yeates and she is married to a member. She wanted to know what Mormons believed, so her husband took her to General Conference last week to let here see it herself. well, SHE LOVED IT!!!!!! She came to church on Sunday and was balling throughout the whole scarament. She was feeling the Spirit. We are going to teach her on Tuesday and I am really exited! She is very interested and eager to learn about the Gospel.
But things are going well. This week has been hard for me with not having my visa. It has just been something that has been on my mind lately. I want to go down to Mexico so bad, but at the same time I know I need to be here. It just gets hard when you never know if the call will come and you are always trying to do your best and find what it is that the Lord needs for me to do. Pray for me!!! and my Visa!!!
Well sorry it is a little shorter today. I will try to write more next week. I love you guys. Thanks so much for everything. The prayers, letters, thoughts, just everything.
Con Amor,
Elder Glover

Letter #17 What A Week!

Hola Familia
Wow!!!!! THis has been such a great week for me. I learned a lot and I grew a whole bunch. But first of all, wasn't conference GREAT!!! Man, I enjoyed it soo much. Lots a great talks and messages. I watched all of the sessions at members or less actives houses because the stake center is about 30 miles away. BUt I did get to go to priesthood session. And what about all the temples!!!! Indianapolis, Tijuana, Lisbon!!!! The work is moving forward! And I really enojyed the talk by Elder Richard G Scott. It was really powerful to me about faith and character. That is something that I am learning on my mission. The more faith we have, the stronger our character and desire to serve the Lord and do what is right. But when our faith is weakend, we become discouraged and the devil is more able to influence us. We ALWAYS got to have strong faith.
So some exciting news. On October 17 we are having Stake Conference. And it is gonna be awesome because Elder Richard G. Scott is comeing to the Conference. I am so excited to listen to him. And the morning before Stake Conference, he is having a meeting for the missionaries, investigators, and recent converts in the past year. It is going to be so cool to sit in a small setting and listen to an Apostle of the Lord.
Well this week has been great. I have really grown a lot as a missionary and in my spanish. So my companion had a training meeting this week for 4 days back in Moses Lake. So the district leader and my companion, Elder Scoggin, went to MOses Lake while another Elder, Elder Goff (he has been out the same amount of time as me), and I took over the Quincy area. HOLY COW!!!!!!!!! I was scared out of my mind because probably 70 percent of the people in Qunicy speak spanish and I don't know spanish and also I was very familiar with the area and where people lived. But I sucked it up, had some faith, and did it. And wow!! What a great experience for me. In the 4 days, I think there were only a couple of people that didn't understand. I was able to communicate with people and use my spainish. We taught a couple of lessons in Spanish, did a lot of finding, and taught a few lessons in English. The Lord really blessed me with the gift of tongues. It is amzing to me that I could take over the area and communicate in a language that I have only been learning for 3 months. It was a huge blessing for me to really find some confidence and see how much stregnth that the Lord is giving me.
Dad, here in Quincy there is a Spanish branch and an English Ward. There are a lot of less actives so that is what a lot of our work is focused on right now. BUt we do have 5 people on date for baptism. Monie Garcia and here two sons in the English Ward. And Jose Manuel and Suzana in the Spanish Branch. Pray for them and that they will be ready for their baptism on the 23 of Oct. Especially pray for Monie. She is having a really hard time quiting smoking and drinking coffee.
Well everything is going really well in Quincy. No news on the visa. But it is all in the Lord's timing. Mom, tell everyone hi in UT. And give Grandma and Grandpa and Leah my love.! Thanks for the letters and prayers. I love you guys and i hope that everything continues to go well where ever you are.
Con Amor,
Elder Glover
