Wow!!!!! THis has been such a great week for me. I learned a lot and I grew a whole bunch. But first of all, wasn't conference GREAT!!! Man, I enjoyed it soo much. Lots a great talks and messages. I watched all of the sessions at members or less actives houses because the stake center is about 30 miles away. BUt I did get to go to priesthood session. And what about all the temples!!!! Indianapolis, Tijuana, Lisbon!!!! The work is moving forward! And I really enojyed the talk by Elder Richard G Scott. It was really powerful to me about faith and character. That is something that I am learning on my mission. The more faith we have, the stronger our character and desire to serve the Lord and do what is right. But when our faith is weakend, we become discouraged and the devil is more able to influence us. We ALWAYS got to have strong faith.
So some exciting news. On October 17 we are having Stake Conference. And it is gonna be awesome because Elder Richard G. Scott is comeing to the Conference. I am so excited to listen to him. And the morning before Stake Conference, he is having a meeting for the missionaries, investigators, and recent converts in the past year. It is going to be so cool to sit in a small setting and listen to an Apostle of the Lord.
Well this week has been great. I have really grown a lot as a missionary and in my spanish. So my companion had a training meeting this week for 4 days back in Moses Lake. So the district leader and my companion, Elder Scoggin, went to MOses Lake while another Elder, Elder Goff (he has been out the same amount of time as me), and I took over the Quincy area. HOLY COW!!!!!!!!! I was scared out of my mind because probably 70 percent of the people in Qunicy speak spanish and I don't know spanish and also I was very familiar with the area and where people lived. But I sucked it up, had some faith, and did it. And wow!! What a great experience for me. In the 4 days, I think there were only a couple of people that didn't understand. I was able to communicate with people and use my spainish. We taught a couple of lessons in Spanish, did a lot of finding, and taught a few lessons in English. The Lord really blessed me with the gift of tongues. It is amzing to me that I could take over the area and communicate in a language that I have only been learning for 3 months. It was a huge blessing for me to really find some confidence and see how much stregnth that the Lord is giving me.
Dad, here in Quincy there is a Spanish branch and an English Ward. There are a lot of less actives so that is what a lot of our work is focused on right now. BUt we do have 5 people on date for baptism. Monie Garcia and here two sons in the English Ward. And Jose Manuel and Suzana in the Spanish Branch. Pray for them and that they will be ready for their baptism on the 23 of Oct. Especially pray for Monie. She is having a really hard time quiting smoking and drinking coffee.
Well everything is going really well in Quincy. No news on the visa. But it is all in the Lord's timing. Mom, tell everyone hi in UT. And give Grandma and Grandpa and Leah my love.! Thanks for the letters and prayers. I love you guys and i hope that everything continues to go well where ever you are.
Con Amor,
Elder Glover
